Where to Stream the Disney Animated Movie ‘Wish’
This week, just before the American Thanksgiving holiday, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ newest film, Wish, opens in theaters.
Disney has been creating animated film fascination by allowing us to be taken to many beautiful places on the big screen for a century.
It’s a remarkable accomplishment, and even after all this time, they still produce innovative, entertaining new shows that appeal to audiences of all ages.
With their 62nd animated picture, Wish, released worldwide in 2023, this beloved tradition is gaining momentum.
What is the “Wish” Movie About?
Wish’s early rise focuses on the star’s beginnings, who has been in most Disney films for 100 years. There is more to Wish’s story than that.
In the year 1200–1300, in the Kingdom of Rosas in the Iberian Peninsula, Asha gets suspicious of King Magnifico, who can both give and grant wishes but grants more desires than he does.
In a moment of extreme need, Asha expresses a heartfelt wish to the stars in the night sky, and her request is granted as a real star named Star descends from the sky.
They get together to take on King Magnifico and battle for a brighter future in the kingdom.
Creation of “Wish”
“Wish,” Disney’s most recent animated film, has real-world references, dozens of Easter eggs, and nodes to earlier classics.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributed the film, and Walt Disney Animation Studios produced it. Produced by Peter Del Vecho and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones.
It was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn (in her feature directorial debut) from a script by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore, based on a scenario devised by Lee, Buck, Veerasunthorn, and Moore.
The Art of Animation
The artwork blends computer animation with the visual aesthetic of Disney’s older hand-drawn films.
Wish’s development started in 2018, but it was made public in January 2022 when it was discovered that Lee was penning an original Disney Animation movie.
The project was formally announced in September 2022, when DeBose and Tudyk’s involvement, as well as the title were disclosed.
The same month, Buck and Veerasunthorn—who had collaborated with Lee on Frozen (2013) as story artist and co-director, respectively—were confirmed as directors. Moore was then brought on board to assist Lee in creating the screenplay.
