The Twilight Director Would Cast Jenna Ortega as The New Bella Swan
When Twilight debuted in 2008, it shot Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart into the spotlight, launching successful careers in the entertainment industry.
This time, the director of the original Twilight, Catherine Hardwicke, is reinventing the classic vampire romance with leads Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi.
Reason Behind the Re-Casting of Twilight’s Lead
In celebration of Twilight’s 15th anniversary, Catherine Hardwicke recently stopped by Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.
In this special watch-along episode, she shared behind-the-scenes stories from the 2008 production, including the casting process for the characters that fans would come to love (and hate) throughout five films and the famously shelved jet-ski action movie script.
Horowitz questions Hardwicke halfway through the program about what she would do differently if Twilight were revised in the modern era.
Hardwicke endorses without hesitation that
“Jacob Elordi would be “perfect” in Edward Cullen’s role. “Have you seen Saltburn? He’s amazing.”
The director continues,
“He would probably be Edward today.”
Regarding the casting of Bella, Hardwicke declared that Ortega, who gained prominence as the star of Netflix’s “Wednesday” series and being a “Scream” queen, would have to be the choice.
Hardwicke remarked,
“I do believe there are a lot of really cool young actors. You just mentioned Jenna Ortega, she’s amazing.”
Is Twilight Coming Again?
A Twilight series is apparently in the works, as Hardwicke indicates during the episode, and things may get crazy.
The film’s director talked about the franchise’s future, considering that a Twilight TV series is supposedly in development at Lionsgate TV and is based on Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy novels of the same name.
Although Hardwicke acknowledges that she doesn’t know much about the possible new series’ approach or how true it could be to the original franchise, she does have a few suggestions.
Adding that the writers’ strike has most likely slowed the movie’s progress, She remarked,
“For me, it’d be fun to do Twilight in outer space. I’d be ecstatic to do that. Something completely different,”
About the Series “Twilight”
The popular movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy novel Twilight, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, turned the book into an international smash hit.
As portrayed by Kristen and Robert, Bella and Edward became a beloved bond among the audience.
It tells the story of a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire in this young adult adventure romance.
Her battle to establish a relationship in a dangerous and suspicious world made the book a number one New York Times bestseller.
According to Stephenie Meyer, on June 2, 2003, she had a dream that inspired her novel Twilight.
An infatuated vampire who desired the human girl’s blood was the subject of the dream. Meyer created the transcript of chapter 13 of the book based on this dream.
What are the Selected Actors Doing Currently in Their Schedule?
Jenna Ortega made headlines recently when she withdrew from Scream 7 because of her Wednesday Season 2 filming schedule.
Many thought Jenna left the film because Melissa Barrera, her co-star, was sacked from the horror film because of postings she made on social media against Israel and Palestine.
In the meantime, Jacob Elordi, who portrayed Elvis Presley in Priscilla, was most recently spotted.
He also has Saltburn, directed by Emereld Fennell and starring Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan. His performances in HBO’s Euphoria and Netflix’s The Kissing Booth brought him recognition.
Twilight Hitting Back Our Screens?: A Mystery!
It is yet a mystery whether Twilight creators will bring back the series on screens for us or not. We can only wait for the announcement of its comeback.
The movie franchise turned its teenage team into stars, bringing in over $3.4 billion globally. Rumors have been circulating this year about developing a new Twilight-based television show.
