Another Update In Mathew Perry’s Case – Cause Of Death Was Revealed To Be From Ketamine
The Los Angeles County coroner’s autopsy report, which was made public on Friday, states that the acute effects of “ketamine” caused Matthew Perry’s death.
It draws attention to a medication that is used recreationally and medicinally, but it rarely causes overdose deaths. Instead, it can raise the risk of other health issues or result in accidental deaths.
The Recent Autopsy Report of Matthew Perry
It’s unclear how exactly he took the drug.
The effects of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid use disorder, coronary artery disease, and drowning, were among the contributing reasons to the death of Perry (Chandler).
It was determined that the death was an accident, as per the autopsy report.
Before his death, Perry was reportedly receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety. Added to the toxicological report:
“At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression.”
Matthew Perry’s Initial Death Cause Statement
According to police and law enforcement officials, the “Friends” actor was discovered dead at his Pacific Palisades home on October 28.
The Los Angeles Police Department claimed in a statement that Perry
“was discovered by a witness unresponsive in his jacuzzi” the day after they were called to his residence.
Matthew Perry’s Cause of Death Revealed to Be From Ketamine
According to the autopsy findings, no traces of alcohol, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, PCP, or fentanyl were found.
The report says Perry received ketamine infusion therapy; the last dose was presumably administered 1.5 weeks before Perry’s passing.
According to the autopsy, ketamine is used in both illegal and recreational contexts and is described as
“a dissociative anesthetic with established human medical and surgical uses.”
However, according to the report’s statement,
“ketamine’s half-life is 3 to 4 hours, or less, so the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy.“
The high levels of ketamine are found in his body, which results in his death.
The Effects of Ketamine
Both physicians and medical professionals utilize etamine as an anesthetic. People occasionally use it illegally to get high.
Being a dissociative drug, ketamine makes users feel as though they are not a part of their body or their surroundings.
The Pacific Neuroscience Institute reports that the usage of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, to treat depression, anxiety, and PTSD has increased.
The Drug Enforcement Agency states that,
“the drug distorts perceptions of sight and sound and makes the user feel disconnected and not in control.”
Its overdose effects include significantly delayed breathing and unconsciousness.
Matthew Perry Was Opened About His Fighting Against Drug Addiction
Perry had been transparent about his decades-long battles with drug and alcohol addiction.
In the 2017 film Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, the actor recounted how, during his final years on the NBC sitcom, he was taking 55 Vicodin tablets a day at the height of his addiction.
Perry said previously,
“When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned — I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned.
“And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that,
“Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”
What are His Friends Saying About His Struggles?
Everyone is still mourning over Matthew’s death. His Friends are also well aware of his real-life struggles against drug abuse.

“He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know,”
“I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”
In an Instagram post, Courteney Cox paid tribute to Perry by posting a blooper video of the two “Friends” cast members.
“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you, Matty, and I miss you every day,”
“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here’s one of my favorites.”
