Martin Scorsese to Receive the David O. Selznick Achievement Award at PGA 2024
Martin Scorsese will receive the honored David O. Selznick Achievement Award at PGA in February 2024, the Producers Guild of America announced on Thursday.
The David O. Selznick Achievement Award will be given out at the PGA Awards event on February 25, 2024.
Remarks of the Presidents of the PGA on Martin Scorsese’s Career
The award honors producers for their exceptional and long-lasting contributions to the film industry.

“Marty’s trailblazing career as a producer, marked by decades of bold, breakthrough projects, demands to be celebrated,”
“His mastery and unwavering commitment to the craft are truly unparalleled.
We are proud to honor him and his many filmmaking achievements this year at the PGA Awards.”
Martin Scorsese’s Response to the PGA’s Presidents
Scorsese responded to the honor by saying:
“In March 1965, I was flown out to Los Angeles by the PGA to receive an award for my student film It’s Not Just You, Murray!
I was 22 at the time. At the same event, a much older filmmaker was also being honored. His name was Alfred Hitchcock.”
He added further to his words,
“58 years later, I’m proud to say I am a much older filmmaker.
And I’m honored to receive an award named after a true legend among producers, David O. Selznick. It makes me feel like I’ve come full circle.”

Scorsese’s producing credits include “Killers of the Flower Moon,” in addition to his movies like “Hugo” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
And movies from other people, including documentaries, international films, Hollywood productions, indies, and first-time directors.
Additionally, he has created television shows like “Boardwalk Empire.”
With almost 50 films under his direction over the last 60 years, some of the more well-known ones are Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Departed, and The Wolf of Wall Street.
The 81-year-old filmmaker’s most recent film, Killers of the Flower Moon, has garnered tremendous praise this year.
He has also received 14 Academy Award nominations over the years, with The Departed earning him the title of “Best Director.”

In 1968 Scorsese graduated with a Master of Arts from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University.
Who’s That Knocking at My Door (1967), his directorial debut, was invited to the Chicago Film Festival.
