At the Ceremony of Culkin’s Walk of Fame
The 43-year-old actor was bestowed with the 2,765th star on the famed Hollywood Boulevard pavement.
In the interview, Culkin discussed whether or not he anticipated that his role as the lead in the iconic 1990 movie would get him to this point.
“I was 9 years old, and so, like, you know, you kind of have to look at it from that perspective,” he said during the ceremony. “You have no idea what’s going on.
“I mean, you’re a schmucky kid, and I just showed up.“
He added,
“I always knew my lines. I always found my light and just tried to be professional and charming at the same time. That’s the best I could do.“
Culkin and O’Hara Remade their Pose
In the Home Alone film series, which began with the landmark 1990 picture and continued with its 1992 sequel, Culkin played the title character of Kevin McCallister, while O’Hara played his patient mother, Kate.
Thirty-three years after their first meeting, O’Hara made an emotional statement about the actor while delicately touching Culkin’s face.
O’Hara mentioned in her address the extreme pressure Culkin went through as a young child when he was suddenly thrust into the spotlight.
Catherine O’Hara’s Heartfelt Words for Macaulay Culkin
She declared Home Alone a global sensation because of Culkin,
“Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation.
Macaulay Culkin is the reason families all over the world can’t let a year pass without watching and loving Home Alone together.”
“I know you worked hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do,” she continued, calling Culkin’s performance “perfect.“
O’Hara gave wonderful remarks to Culkin,
“This beautiful little 10-year-old boy was called a superstar, a money maker, one of the hottest leading young men in the world. How does anyone survive that?”
She continued,
“I believe you would have to possess a certain quality, a gift … your sense of humor, it’s a sign of intelligence in a child and a key to surviving life at any age.”
O’Hara Got Emotional While Giving Her Speech
She claimed that Culkin contributed his “sweet and twisted, yet relatable sense of humor” to every project he worked on, adding that it is essential for survival at any age and a sign of intellect in children.
“Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone, not once but twice, to share on this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you .”
Before approaching the podium, Culkin was spotted embracing O’Hara and blotting away her tears.
Macaulay Culkin Also Thanked His Family
Culkin’s 35-year-old fiancée Brenda Song, whom he started dating in 2017 after meeting her on the shooting of the 2019 film “Changeland,” attended the event with him.
The couple and their kids made their first red carpet-appearance. Culkin and Song are parents to two-year-old Dakota and a baby boy.
Before paying a moving homage to Song and his kids, Culkin acknowledged his long standing supporters during his acceptance speech.
He said,
“I’d like to thank Brenda. You’re absolutely everything,”
He further added,
“You’re my champion. You’re the only person happier for me today than I am.
“You’re the best woman I’ve ever known. You’re the best person I’ve ever known.
“You’ve given me all my purpose. You’ve given me family. And after the birth of our two boys, you’ve become one of my three favorite people.”
