Back in the Game: Tom Hardy and Crew Restart “Venom 3” After Strike Delay
After being put on hold for almost four months because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Tom Hardy has confirmed that production on Venom 3 has begun.
Following the 118-day actors’ strike that concluded on November 8, the actor who plays the franchise’s title character announced on social media on Friday that the third and final film has returned to production.
Tom Hardy Reveals the Resumption of “Venom 3”
Hardy shared a monochrome picture of himself alongside actor and stunt double Jacob Tomuri and writer and director Kelly Marcel. The three had big smiles and looked happy in the picture.
“The Last dance — thankfully, we are back to shooting,” he captioned the photo on Instagram.
‘And I want to take a moment just to thank all the teams thus far on the ride from V1 to here. All our fantastic Cast and crew — good friends and family — we’ve come a long way.’
“It’s been and continues to be a lot of fun this journey,” he added.
“There’s always hard turns to burn when we work, but it doesn’t feel as hard when you love what you do and when you know you have great material and the support at all sides of a great team.
Surrounded by talented and passionate departments and when surrounded by people you love and care about it doesn’t get any better.”
Release Date of “Venom 3”
The announcement comes after SAG-AFTRA approved a provisional agreement on Nov. 8 to end the 118-day actors’ strike.
Sony Pictures rescheduled the movie’s July 12, 2024, release date to November 8, the same day the strike ended.
The prominent comic book blockbuster “Venom 3” probably wouldn’t have been finished in time for its scheduled summer release date because of the several-month production halt.
When Did the “Venom 3” Shooting Start?
Filming for Venom 3 first started on June 26, 2023, in a park in the southeast of the country and at Los Mateos in Cartagena, Spain.
However, SAG-AFTRA went on strike after nearly a month of work, and as a result, on July 14, production was momentarily stopped in support of the union workers.
After nearly four months, the strike was declared over on November 9, when both parties reached an agreement.
About the Series “Venom”
“Venom 3″ comes after the big office achievements of “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” ($502 million worldwide) in 2021 and “Venom” ($856 million worldwide) in 2018.
The threequel is directed and written by Kelly Marcel, who wrote the first two movies.
Writing in his post, Hardy made mention of Marcel,
“I want to briefly mention how proud I am of my director, writing partner and dear friend Kelly Marcel.
Watching you taking the helm on this one fills me with pride, it is an honor.
Trust your gut, your instincts are always spot on. First class – I back you.”
Cast & Plot of Venom 3
Plot details for the third installment are unknown, except Hardy’s reappearance as journalist Eddie Brock and his unintentional sidekick and parasite Venom.
Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor from “12 Years a Slave” and actress Juno Temple from “Ted Lasso” have joined the cast in unspecified roles.
Hardy’s otherworldly, deadly guardian last appeared in the closing credits of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
However, it’s unclear which characters from Sony’s Marvel Universe, including Morbius, Kraven the Hunter, and Madame Web, will appear in “Venom 3.”
Small Pause Resulting in a Great Comeback
Venom 3’s remarkable comeback from Tom Hardy and the hardworking crew serves as a reminder that obstacles are just stops along the way.
Their group spirit is undisturbed and prepared to take the stage after a pause. As we eagerly awaited the movie, let’s honor the constant drive for victory.
After all, our common humanity is most visible when we experience failures and victories in harmony.
