Andre Braugher, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Star, Passed Away at 61
André Braugher passed away at 61 years old. Andre, who won two Emmys. He was the star of the series Homicide: Life on the Street, Men of a Certain Age, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
According to Jennifer Allen, his publicist, Andre Braugher, passed away following a brief illness on 11th December. No other information was provided.

The actor, who was born in Chicago, rose to fame in the grim police thriller “Homicide: Life on the Street,” where he played the principal character of Det. Frank Pembleton.
David Simon would later go on to create “The Wire.” With Braugher serving as both the show’s dramatic focal point and breakout star, the seven-season NBC series, which followed the homicide unit of the Baltimore Police Department, garnered critical praise.
He made his television debut in television films based on the original Kojak series, playing the sidekick of the late Telly Savalas.
He also performed on stage a lot, mainly as Shakespeare. He served in “Measure for Measure,” “Twelfth Night,” and “As You Like It” at the New York Shakespeare Festival, where he also won an Obie Award for the leading role in “Henry V.”

Braugher was described as,

In “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Jackson portrayed Kevin, the spouse of Braugher’s Captain Holt.

Braugher starred with Andy Samberg in the popular comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine for eight seasons.
His character quickly became a fan favorite because of his austere, no-nonsense demeanor and a strong sense of empathy, notably when partnered with Andy Samberg’s hotshot Det. Jake Peralta in a scene.
The show debuted on Fox before moving to NBC and won two Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Braugher was nominated for four Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Captain Ray Holt.

Because of his performance in the Peabody-winning HBO series The Tuskegee Airmen, Braugher was nominated for a second Emmy in 1996 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Mini-Series.

Alongside Christine Baranski and Audra McDonald, he portrayed showman lawyer and rainmaker Ri’Chard Lane in the sixth and final season of Paramount’s courtroom drama The Good Fight.
A Glimpse of Andre Braugher’s Life
Braugher, a Chicago native, studied acting at Juilliard School after earning a degree from Stanford University.
In the film “Glory,” he portrayed Thomas Searles, a free Black man who enlisted in the first Black regiment in his first on-screen performance as a Union soldier.
Braugher and Ami Brabson, his co-star on “Homicide,” were wed for over thirty years. In addition, his mother, Sally Braugher; his brother, Charles Jennings; and his sons, Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley, survive him.
